PRO Awards 2014

The inaugural Panasonic PRO Awards attracted over 30 impressive entries from 8 different countries, all competing for the best residential, hotel, restaurant, retail and commercial category prizes. Eight PRO Partners were triumphant, and received the opportunity to fly to Japan to visit the Panasonic headquarters and other impressive Panasonic facilities.

The eight winners all illustrated best practice when it comes to specifying and installing heating and cooling systems. The Best Residential Project Single Dwelling category was awarded to Procyon (Poland), while Best Residential Project Multi-Dwelling was won by Heat Merchants (Ireland) and Ecosphere Renewables (UK) won Best Residential Project Social Housing.

Turning the attention to commercial installations, BS-Klima (Germany) won Best Hotel Installation. Best Retail Project was awarded to Hydra Ingenieria SL (Spain), while Best Restaurant Project was presented to FWP and Oceanair (UK) and Best Commercial Air Conditioning Project to Vini Thermo Consulting (France).

Alongside the project categories, a Special Award for Best Contribution was awarded to PRO Partner, Tech Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in Ireland for their three outstanding entries in the Commercial Air Conditioning category; the Smurfit Kappa, Savills HQ Dublin and Google Block R projects.

Panasonic was hugely impressed with the high standard of entries received from PRO Partners across Europe, which showcase real passion for sustainable design and renewable energy. The winning entries demonstrated imaginative use of technology, great integration skills and commitment to delivering effective, bespoke solutions which result in best-in-class projects.

The winners were carefully selected by an independent international judging panel, including Fabrizio Roscioli, who is the third generation of a prestigious family of hoteliers, including the Best Western chain, Norbert Otten, an Associate Partner of a leading consultancy for construction and property projects, Drees & Sommer, Christian Pessey, who has released a number of books on DIY and home improvement, Rafael Úrculo, a founding partner of the engineering consultancy, Úrculo Ingenieros Consultores SA and Liselott Larsson Kolessar, the Environmental Manager at White Arkitekter in Sweden. Together they decided which projects demonstrated the most flair and innovation, as well as showcasing sustainable design, efficiency, cost effectiveness and aesthetics. The winner of each category has receive a once in a lifetime trip to Japan, which includes a visit to the Panasonic global Headquarters and to the ground-breaking Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town.
