Panasonic to Showcase the Groundbreaking Aquarea EcoFlex Heat Pump

27/03/2026

Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions unveiled its new Aquarea EcoFlex at Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2026 in Milan, showcasing a next‑generation hybrid heat pump system designed to deliver low‑carbon, high‑efficiency heating, cooling and domestic hot water.

The Aquarea EcoFlex is Panasonic’s latest hybrid innovation, combining advanced heat pump technology with integrated air-to-water and air-to-air functionality in a single, integrated system. It not only delivers efficient space heating and cooling and heat recovery for production of DHW (“for free”) but also enhanced indoor air quality where units with nanoe™ X technology are utilised. The compact, versatile system offers flexible installation with up to three connectable air-to-air indoor units (such as wall mounted Etherea and ducted options) and one air-to-water including the DHW tank, and maintains reliable operation in temperatures as low as –25°C.

Three Key Differentiators:

1.     Heat Recovery: EcoFlex stands out with its unique heat recovery capability, enabling cooling as well as the efficient production of domestic hot water (DHW). The heat recovery function cleverly repurposes the heat expelled by the outdoor unit during cooling to efficiently heat the domestic hot water cylinder, maximising energy use, and overall system performance.

2.     Bi-Heating: The system supports bi-heating, allowing both air-to-air and air-to-water heating to operate together or independently. This flexibility ensures optimal comfort and efficiency for a wide range of building types and user needs.

3.     Non-Stop Heating: Unlike conventional systems, EcoFlex delivers uninterrupted heating—even during defrost cycles, ensuring consistent comfort throughout the coldest months.

Additional Benefits:

  • nanoe™ X Technology: Available in Etherea wall-mounted EcoFlex duct, nanoe™ X provides 24/7 enhanced indoor air quality by inhibiting certain bacteria, viruses, mould, and odours.
  • Greater Flexibility: Up to three air-to-air indoor units are connectable (Etherea wall mounted and ducted type) providing greater flexibility.
  • Smart Connectivity: the EcoFlex air-to-water indoor unit can be connected to Panasonic Comfort Cloud app in addition to the Etherea and EcoFleX ducted indoor units to control heating and cooling as well as nanoe ™X function, and setting timers.
  • Effective Monitoring: From the app, it’s also possible to monitor the production of DHW with heat recovery to understand the savings thanks to this function.
  • Remote Access: the Ecoflex can be connected to Aquarea Service Cloud, allowing professionals to take care of their customers heat pump remotely.
