Panasonic Supports EHPA’s Call for Stable Regulation and Fair Electricity Taxation for Heat Pumps

 

 

Dublin, Ireland, October 2, 2025 – Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions supports the European Heat Pump Association’s (EHPA) call for more balanced energy taxation and stronger policy support for heat pumps.

 

According to the EHPA, heat pumps, which are vital for strengthening Europe’s energy security, are currently at a disadvantage because electricity is taxed much more than gas. EHPA explains that a heat pump is most competitive[1] when the electricity is twice the price of gas or less. Taxes and levies are a significant cost component to the market price of energy in many EU countries.
