Panasonic welcomes the RHI announcement
09/04/2014
Panasonic has welcomed today’s launch of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme for domestic installations.
The announcement made today (9 April) by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) now sees the scheme extended for householders and aims to boost the uptake of renewable heating, offering homeowners payments to offset the cost of installing low carbon systems in their properties.
Commenting on the announcement, Marc Diaz, UK Country Manager for Panasonic said: “We are delighted that the Government has officially launched the domestic RHI scheme as it is the news the renewables industry had been waiting for. We hope that this announcement will now allow more householders to make the switch to renewable energy and start to make significant savings on their heating bills. Compared to oil, gas and electric powered heating systems which are highly energy inefficient and expensive to run, renewable technology such as an air-source heat pumps are a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable solution.”
Marc continues “Our Aquarea range of air to water heat pumps are already proving extremely popular with homeowners, specifiers and contractors looking for reliable, easy to use heating and hot water systems offering maximum energy efficiency.”
The RHI is a financial incentive scheme designed to encourage uptake of renewable heating among domestic consumers. The domestic RHI is targeted at, but not limited to, homes off the gas grid. Those without mains gas have the most potential to save on fuel bills and decrease carbon emissions.
The scheme will cover single domestic dwellings and will be open to homeowners, private landlords, social landlords and self-builders. It will not be open to new build properties other than self-build.
