Grand Designs Competition Winner Enjoys Year-Round Comfort with Panasonic Etherea Installation
13/01/2026

Tanya Vincent-Tomlinson and her family have transformed
their summer house into a comfortable, year-round space after winning the Grand
Designs and Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions competition.
The family received a Panasonic Etherea air conditioning unit as their prize, which was installed in October 2025 by ML Air Conditioning. This changed their outdoor brick-built summer house into a flexible space that serves as both a home office and a gym, allowing it to be used comfortably all year round.

“The installation was seamless and much quicker than we expected, and the Panasonic unit’s performance exceeding our expectations,” said Tanya. “We can now use the space regardless of the season.”
The Grand Designs and Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions summer competition offered one lucky winner the chance to upgrade their home with a Panasonic Etherea air conditioning unit, including professional installation. Tanya, a regular reader of Grand Designs magazine and their newsletter, was thrilled to receive the call announcing her family as the winners.
After being contacted by a local Panasonic-accredited installer, ML Air Conditioning, the family’s summer house was assessed for suitability. Previously, the space was too hot in summer and too cold in winter, limiting its use. The new system has changed that completely.
“The new Panasonic air conditioning system has transformed the summer house space to one that we can now use all year round, due to the ability to both quickly heat or cool the space. We are very impressed with the unit so far and would highly recommend the Panasonic Etherea unit to anyone looking for fast and efficient heating and cooling,” Tanya added.

The Etherea range is a perfect fit for any modern home, is reliable, highly energy efficient, quiet, and delivers an even air distribution throughout. It’s a flexible solution that blends practicality with style. The unit is available in matt white, graphite grey or silver. With an A+++ efficiency rating, built-in Wi-Fi for smart control, and Panasonic’s advanced nanoe™ X technology that helps inhibit certain bacteria and viruses, and reduces allergens, pollen, and mould, improving indoor air quality for healthier living, the unit delivers far more than just heating and cooling.
Mick Langford, UK Country Manager for Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions commented, “We’re delighted to see our Etherea unit making a real difference for Tanya and her family”.
