Panasonic Launches a New Switchover Control System for Commercial Air Conditioning Units

Panasonic has developed a new interface which provides redundancy monitoring and control for PACi and ECOi indoor units. The PAW-PACR3 interface, which is particularly suitable for server rooms, guarantees complete product peace of mind and system maintenance confidence.
It is vital to have an air conditioning unit in server rooms due to the amount of heat generated by computers. If the temperature unexpectedly increases, an increased cooling capacity is required to prevent the computers from failing. With this in mind, Panasonic has introduced the PAW-PACR3 interface which allows up to three PACi or ECOi systems to work together to ensure the room always remains at an optimum temperature.
“When cooling is required 24/7, the operation and reliability of the air conditioning unit is of extreme importance” explains Marc Diaz, UK Country Manager of Panasonic Heating and Cooling. “This change-over system ensures a constant temperature is achieved. It also provides the end-user with the confidence that the units have a long life-span.”
By installing a PAW-T10 connector to each PACi or ECOi indoor unit, the PAW-PACR3 interface provides a backup and rotation operation system. Ideal for 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week operation, the second and third unit can be set up to rotate. This alternating system provides exceptional reliability and an optimum product life cycle for the air conditioning units.
If there is an unexpected temperature rise the second standby unit is activated automatically to achieve room temperature. An optional alarm (internal or external) can be activated to warn of this temperature increase. Once demand has reduced the second unit will return to standby.
The system is also capable of providing back-up control. Should a unit fail; the system will automatically switch operation to another unit. This ensures that there is not a loss of cooling, therefore preventing the possible overheating and failure of critical equipment and data.
