Panasonic air source heat pumps offer highly efficient, eco-friendly and cost-effective heating solutions
01/08/2013
With recent reports* suggesting that up to 1 million more households could be pushed into fuel poverty due to rising energy prices, switching to renewable heat pump technology to heat your home is becoming an increasingly popular alternative.
The Farnham family from Taunton in Somerset made the change this year, in a bid to save money on their heating and hot water.
Zoe Farnham said: “We had a 25 year old boiler which was very expensive as we often have the heating on a lot and we worked out that we were spending about £8 a day. My father in law already had a ground-water heat pump and he works with someone that suggested the new air source heat pump and that the Panasonic one might be beneficial to us.”
With a growing family, they have recently made the move to Somerset and their new home only had a small cylinder tank. With friends and family frequently visiting from London, they wanted a system that could cope with the increased demand.
“I’m at home a lot at the moment with young children and am washing up, all day, every day, plus the children love to have a bath filled right to the top so we didn’t want the water to run out or to run cold. Eventually we’d also like to have 2 bathrooms in the house too.”
The Farnham’s spoke to heat pump supplier Energy Specialists about their requirements and they were able to advise them on the best solution for their home.
The Panasonic Aquarea air-to-water heat pump is an innovative solution that makes use of the inexhaustible thermal energy found in the air, extracting energy to supply hot water and heating for the home. By switching to Aquarea, it offers both environmental and financial benefits and is a sustainable alternative to oil, LPG and electric heating.
An extremely compact and versatile heating system – the Aquarea heat pump will be able to fulfil heating demands even in temperatures as low as -20°C. Independent tests have also shown that Panasonic’s air-to-water heat pump is capable of saving up to 78% on heating expenses, and far more efficient than fuel-fired boilers, gas boilers and electric heaters.
Panasonic’s Aquarea heat pump was certainly the best solution for the Farnham’s as Zoe explains: “It does exactly what we want, we have hot water, we have heating, and it’s been great. Now we’re running off mains pressure, we have eliminated the tank from upstairs as that now sits outside in what was the original boiler room. It’s actually quite quiet too. I expected it to be noisy and while we have it a reasonable distance from the house, we don’t hear it at all and we don’t notice if it’s on or off really."
Panasonic’s Aquarea is the most comprehensive, versatile and cost-effective range of air-to-water heat pumps on the market. It features heat pumps from 7 to 16 kW, single and three-phase alongside stand-alone and split-units.
