Panasonic Triumphs with Double Award-Win for its Refrigeration Solutions
30/04/2025

Panasonic is pleased to announce its double award win at the 2025 ACR News Awards. Championing recognition for its refrigeration solutions, the company took home the trophy for Refrigeration Product of the Year with its 20HP cold chain refrigeration condensing unit. In addition, Panasonic also won the award for Refrigeration Project of the Year for its 20HP cold chain condensing solution installed at Dunstaple Farm, with Keep it Cool Refrigeration, the first of its kind specified in the UK and outside of Japan.
This year’s established awards were held at the Connaught Rooms in London on 10 April to celebrate excellence and innovation across the UK air conditioning and refrigeration sector, offering winners a stamp of industry approval. This double award win for Panasonic cements its position as leaders of refrigeration solutions across commercial markets.
John Kellett, UK Country Manager for Panasonic UK and Ireland commented, “It’s fantastic to see Panasonic’s cold chain solutions receive the recognition of excellence in these industry awards. It is one of the many cooling solutions offered by Panasonic. Our projects are a critical part of exhibiting the high efficiency and sustainability of our products, so it’s great to see both the product and project being recognised at this year’s awards.”
Panasonic is leading the charge for product innovation, achieving the title of Refrigeration Product of the Year for its 20HP cold chain refrigeration condensing units. The Panasonic R744 (CO2) cold chain units have a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of only 1. The technology has been specifically developed for small to medium capacity applications within the retail and food service sectors. Additionally, the units are capable of functioning in outdoor temperatures as low as -20ºC, ensuring consistent performance in challenging conditions. The units deliver exceptionally low sound levels, the lowest refrigerant charges and the smallest footprint size currently in the marketplace.
Recognising the excellence of its product performance in-situ, the company also won Refrigeration Project of the Year for its 20HP cold chain condensing solution installed at Dunstaple Farm, with installers, Keep it Cool Refrigeration.
Seeking to replace their existing freezer system with a more reliable, sustainable and energy efficient solution to reduce their carbon footprint and increase productivity, Dunstaple Farm turned to cooling specialists, Keep It Cool Refrigeration, who recommended Panasonic’s 20HP cold chain condensing unit, the first of its kind specified in the UK and outside of Japan.
Impressed by their existing two 10HP Panasonic systems previously installed at the site, Dunstaple Farm was looking for a further Panasonic unit to cater to the expansion of their ice cream business. Highly satisfied with the energy efficiency, reliability and sustainability of the Panasonic units, it was decided to install the latest Panasonic 20HP unit at Dunstaple Farm for “blast freezing” the ice cream. Tom James of Dunstaple Farm added, “The new 20HP Panasonic unit has not only helped to increase our energy efficiency but has additionally increased our productivity by reducing the time it takes to freeze the ice cream by as much as 6 hours each day.”
Neil McCourt, Technical Manager at Keep It Cool, knew that Panasonic had recently launched a new 20HP cold chain unit, which perfectly met with Dunstaple Farm’s requirements and further complimented the two existing Panasonic 10HP units already in operation. Neil commented, “As a business we have extensive experience across a wide range of customers when using refrigerant R744 (CO2) technology and have great confidence in the adaptability and reliability of the Panasonic solution, making this an easy choice for Dunstaple Farm and Farmer Tom’s Ice Cream.”
