Cumbernauld. Scotland
A four-bedroom extended home in Cumbernauld, Scotland, has recently been transformed following the installation of a Panasonic Aquarea 9 kW M Series T-Cap heat pump, delivering consistent warmth, improved energy efficiency, and a more sustainable way of living.
Faced with an unreliable and outdated combi boiler and faulty pipe work, homeowner, Mr Robert Henderson turned to expert heating installer, Sean Hogan of Aventus Eco, to find a more sustainable and long-term solution for his 30-year-old property. The existing microbore piping and the addition of a faulty loop in the system had caused severe blockages throughout, leaving parts of the home uncomfortably cool, whilst the main bedroom and ensuite had no heating.
Sean Hogan of Aventus Eco specified the Panasonic Aquarea 9kW M Series heat pump, and a 200-litre Panasonic Domestic hot water tank with Panasonic Aquarea Smart Controls. The outdoor unit, installed at the front of the property, offers a sleek and quiet design that blends seamlessly with its surroundings, delivering powerful yet unobtrusive performance, thus allowing the homeowner to achieve both goals at an energy-efficient and cost-effective price in comparison to the previous inefficient gas boiler.
Aventus Eco were also able to support the homeowner with his application for the Home Energy Scotland’s grant and interest free loan scheme1, to support his investment to transition from a gas boiler to a heat pump. Robert’s top priority was to enhance his year-round comfort while lowering his carbon footprint. Working remotely, it was important to maintain a stable indoor temperature throughout his home.
The retrofit required extensive updates to the property’s plumbing, including work to replace the old microbore pipes and increasing radiator capacity to fully integrate the new system. Despite initial concerns about the scale of the work, Mr Henderson was delighted with Aventus Eco’s expertise, praising their responsive communication and comprehensive support throughout each stage of the project.
“In previous years, parts of the house would be below 10oC in the mornings,” said Mr Henderson, “Although it took me a little time to adjust to having a heat pump, the difference is incredible, the house is now warm, with a constant and comfortable temperature all day long. Sean of Aventus Eco’s advice and high standards have been paramount throughout the process in understanding the new heat pump and better still, I don’t have to use my log burner anymore.”
The Aquarea M Series T-Cap air-to-water heat pump, available at 9kW, 12kW and 16kW capacities is designed for properties like Mr Henderson’s, offering reliable performance even in extreme cold temperatures, due to operating down to -28°C and maintaining capacity without backup heating at -20oC, at a 35°C flow temperature. The Panasonic units are rated A+++ for energy efficiency and use the natural refrigerant R290, with global warming potential (GWP) of just 3, making it one of the most sustainable heating systems currently on the market.
Sean Hogan of Aventus Eco added, “The Aquarea range gives homeowners the ideal balance between comfort, performance, and sustainability. The results here speak for themselves, a warm home, lower energy use, and a very happy customer.”
