Panasonic Powering Europe’s Energy Transformation at MCE 2026
25/03/2026

Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions today hosted a press briefing at MCE 2026 to present its latest innovations supporting Europe’s energy transition. With heating decarbonisation accelerating across the continent, Panasonic introduced two major breakthroughs designed to address the evolving needs of residential, and light‑commercial applications: the new AQUA‑G EVO R290 heat pump chiller and the next‑generation R-454C refrigerant‑split Aquarea N Series, both engineered to deliver superior efficiency and improved sustainability.
The announcements were made in the context of
Europe’s accelerating shift away from fossil‑fuel heating. With energy
resilience, new regulation, and customer adoption challenges at the forefront,
Panasonic reaffirmed its ambition to remain a leading partner for residential
and commercial projects across Europe.
AQUA‑G EVO: A New Generation of High‑Performance
Heat Pump Chillers
Panasonic’s introduction of the AQUA‑G EVO
marks a significant expansion of its commercial heat pump portfolio. Featuring
an inverter-driven compressor and pump, available in three sizes; 60, 80, and
110, the range is engineered to serve diverse installation environments. The
system enables cascade operation of up to eight units, providing a combined
heating capacity of roughly 880 kW.
This new solution strengthens Panasonic’s growing portfolio of R290‑based heating technologies—from 5 kW residential units to large cascade installations—and reinforces the brand’s leadership in natural refrigerant adoption across Europe.
New Refrigerant A2W Units: A Future‑Ready
Aquarea Platform
Panasonic also announced the upcoming R-454C refrigerant‑split Aquarea N Series,
available in early 2027. The system—fully manufactured in Europe—will
adopt a new low‑GWP refrigerant (R-454C) and reflect Panasonic’s ongoing
transition toward low‑impact alternatives.
Panasonic’s adoption of R‑454C is driven by the accelerated EU F‑Gas regulation, which requires a shift away from high‑GWP refrigerants. R‑454C offers a GWP below 150, while providing a balance of high efficiency, low climate impact and A2L‑class safety suited to those buildings where refrigerant connection fits the building requirements and brings greater flexibility in installation environments.
This next‑generation Aquarea reinforces Panasonic’s leadership in heat pump technology and readiness for upcoming European F‑gas and eco‑design requirements.
EU Context: A Sector in Transformation
Enrique Vilamitjana, Managing Director,
Panasonic HVAC Europe, highlighted the broader European context driving
innovation and investment:
Europe is
targeting a 55% emissions reduction by 2030 and climate neutrality by
2050, while the heating and cooling sector is navigating customer‑adoption
barriers, energy‑system integration, and the regulatory phase‑down of high‑GWP
refrigerants. Buildings account for 40% of total energy use, with
heating and DHW representing 80% of residential demand and producing 70%
of building‑related CO₂.
Panasonic leaders reaffirmed the company’s position as a growing European partner, supported by manufacturing facilities in Czechia, France, Italy and Poland, European R&D centres, and recent strategic alliances designed to strengthen its end‑to‑end solutions offering—from production and controls to service and maintenance.
Panasonic’s Commitment to a Decarbonised Future
With its strengthened heating portfolio,
expanding production footprint in Europe, and leadership in natural‑refrigerant
technologies, Panasonic continues to position itself as a key partner driving
the decarbonisation across Europe.
